Midwife trained in ultrasound

Else Ragnhild Bockmann-Bleikelia

Else Ragnhild has been an authorised midwife since 2010 and qualified as an ultrasound midwife at NTNU in 2024. She performs ultrasound examinations throughout pregnancy, including early scans, assessment of the foetus's anatomy (organ screening), and assessment of growth and wellbeing.

She works day to day at the women's and children's department at Ringerike sykehus, where she has broad experience from the delivery ward, the postnatal ward, the gynaecology department and the antenatal clinic, following pregnancies throughout.

Else Ragnhild has also worked as an ultrasound midwife at Sørlandet sykehus in Arendal and Sykehuset Innlandet in Lillehammer to develop her ultrasound expertise further.

The examinations cover all trimesters, focusing on the normal development of the foetus and on assessing weight, growth and wellbeing. She uses colour Doppler and carries out a structured assessment of the foetal heart in five standard views, in addition to 3D ultrasound.

She cares about creating a calm and reassuring experience, and puts weight on clear information and on looking after both the pregnant person and their partner.
